New Super Mario Bros. U Game - Wii U

Classic 2D-Style Gameplay Hits the Wii U!

Wait, something’s not right. I see Mario, Luigi and Toad running across Mushroom Kingdom – that’s normal. But who’s this spikey-haired guy running with them? What’s going on?!?!... Oh yeah, I forgot that you can join Mario and his friends as your Mii character in new New Super Mario Bros. U! Making use of the Wii U’s new GamePad controller and the classic Wii Remotes, up to five (5) people can play cooperatively in the sequel to 2009’s bestseller New Super Mario Bros. Wii. Everyone from kids to the whole family will enjoy this new Wii U game for the new Wii U console. Battle new foes, explore new worlds, and discover new powerups – all in stunning high definition picture.

A classic Mario adventure, reimagined. Experience Mario the way he’s supposed to be: running around and tossing fireballs in an exciting, side-scrolling world. New worlds and challenges await, but Mario and the gang have a few new powers to conquer them. Glide and swoop through the air using the Flying Squirrel Suit, or pick up a Tiny Balloon Yoshi and use him like a blimp across gaps to reach that flag pole at the finish line. And if Dad needs to catch the ballgame on the TV, no problem – just switch over to the GamePad’s built-in screen and finish the level.

All experience and skill levels welcome. New Super Mario Bros. U also offers a casual and fun gaming experience to players of any skill level. Using the GamePad in the all-new Boost Mode, a second player can add block platforms anywhere on the screen to help the player with the Wii Remote cross a difficult gap or defeat a challenging enemy – so now anyone can finish a level. And with up to five players getting into the action, multiplayer just got a whole lot better.

Mario's lookin' good. Take in brilliant new character models and confront a host of new enemies and challenges as you explore stunningly detailed worlds. And thanks to the graphical capabilities of the Wii U, Mario’s latest and greatest adventure is presented in up to 1080p High Definition, bringing all of that color and artwork to life on your television screen.

  • More Muliplayer, Please: Up to five (5) friends can play together in the all-new Boost Mode. And if your Mii is up to the task, put him/her in the game instead of Luigi or Toad.
  • Powerups and Levels A-Plenty: Explore new levels as you discover the latest powerups to aid you in your adventure. Reach a tall platform with the Flying Squirrel Suit or cross a long gap with Tiny Balloon Yoshi.
  • Classic Mario Gameplay, Reimagined: Experience detailed side-scrolling worlds with brilliant new High Definition graphics.
  • Total Accessibility: Use boost blocks in Boost Mode to play cooperatively and conquer any challenging levels. New Super Mario Bros. U is accessible to any skill level.

Compatible with Wii U Console. Not compatible with older Wii console.

Mario is Still The King of Video Games! January 12, 2014
Reviewer: Brandon
I bought a Wii U so I could play this game. First let me say that I love the fact that the world map is all connected, and that you don't have a power up in reserve when you do a level. There is no use trying to tell everyone what this game is because pretty much everyone knows what to expect from a 2D Mario game.

The best New Super Mario Bros! January 10, 2014

I got a Wii U for Christmas, and had no problems picking this up immediately. As expected, this Mario title is exceptionally fun, probably the best Mario title since Super Mario World!

Classic Mario. January 9, 2014

This game reminds me of Mario brothers 3 on the NES. A very enjoyable experience with the game pad adding a 5th player and a new depth to it. Without someone playing the game pad this is a tougher game, but when someone uses it, the game becomes a good bit easier. I enjoy using the game pad while my son plays, this way I can help take the edge off the game and still enjoy myself without becoming to fustrated at watching him walk off ledges.

I have had game consoles since the 80's and I have to say it is one of the best games I have ever played.

Great mario, seems short January 6, 2014
Reviewer: Max
From the minute I started the first level , noticed that the levels seemed to be short. For me, this wasn't a huge problem, but I did spend $60 on this game expecting a BRAND NEW Mario. Yes there are new power-ups and obviously levels, but the game feels short. The graphics are amazing, and that paid for half the game itself, seeing Mario finally in HD was great. The levels are in my opinion- SUPER FUN. I only wish that the gamepad could be a controller, while other people play with wii remotes, not just "boost mode"
