How do I connect/sync remotes?

Each remote you wish to add to your system will need to go through the Sync process to work with your system. With the first Wii Remote you wish to sync, remove the battery cover on the back of the Wii Remote to find a small red button just below the batteries. On the front of the console open the small door above the disc slot. Inside is a red button labeled Sync . Press and release the red sync button on the inside of the flap on the front of the Wii console. Then, press and release the red button on the back of the remote; the blue lights on the front of the Wii Remote will blink. When the blue lights on the remote stop blinking and one stays lit, the syncing is complete. The LED that is illuminated indicates the player number. This sync procedure must be followed for each additional Wii Remote added to the system. NOTE: The more remotes you sync to the system the weaker the connection will be and you may need to re-sync your 3rd and 4th controllers more frequently.

How many remotes and nunchuks do I need?

The number of remotes and nunchuks depends on the games you play. Many games allow up to four players with their own remote and nunchuk to participate in the game, while some games support only one to two players. Music games, such as Rockband, require a remote for each instrument, so a total of four would be required for the full band.

How do I connect to the internet?

To start, make sure you're at the Wii Home Menu and click on "Wii Options" in the lower-left hand corner. In the options menu, click on the "Wii Settings" button with the wrench on it; this will take you to the Wii System Settings menu. If you click on the arrow on the right-side, it will take you to a second page of options; click on the button that says "Internet," and then click on "Connection Settings."

To set up your wireless connection, choose "Connection 1" at the top and select "Wireless Connection." You will be given several options for how you'd like to connect; choose the top option, "Search for an Access Point." Your Wii console will take a few moments to search for wireless connections before displaying the results on the screen. If you see the name of your wireless connection on the screen, choose it. If you don't see the name of your wireless connection, double check to make sure the connection is active, or click "Try again" to refresh the list of names.

After you've selected your wireless connection, you will be automatically connected to the Internet unless your network has password protection. If your network IS password protected, simply use your remote to type the password into the on-screen keyboard. Once the correct password is entered, you will be connected.

To connect through a wired Internet connection, you need to have purchased a LAN Adapter. Plug the adapter into the USB connection on the back of your Wii console, and use an Ethernet cable to connect the LAN adapter to your Internet modem.

Once you're connected, follow all of the instructions for setting up a wireless connection up to the point where you chose "Connection 1." This time, select "Wired Connection" instead; your Wii will do the rest of the work.

The Wii console has a built-in wireless receiver, so if you have wireless Internet set up in your home you will be able to connect right away. If your home requires a cable connection for Internet access, you'll have to purchase the Wii LAN Adapter, which easily plugs into the USB port on the back of your Wii console and enables you to connect your Wii to the router. The Wii LAN Adapter is also great for those who want the most reliable connection and the best picture quality, as wired connections generally outperform wireless ones.

Once your Wii is connected to the Internet, simply click on the Wii Shop Channel from the Wii's main menu. Search for and download the free Netflix application.
